BAGHDAD: Insurgents detonated two simultaneous car bombs in central Baghdad on Monday, killing at least five people and wounding 25, medical and security sources said.
The attacks took place near a courthouse in the Karrada district at around 11:45 am (0845 GMT), a security official said.
A medic from Baghdad's Ibn Nafis hospital confirmed the casualty toll.
The bombings came as US Defence Secretary Robert Gates flew into Baghdad on an unannounced visit.
