Son of Aafia given to Pakistani officials

KABUL: Afghan authorities Monday handed over to Pakistan officials the son of Dr. Aafia--an American-educated Pakistani woman who's been labeled an al-Qaida supporter and is on trial in the United States.

Ali Hassan, 12, was with Aafia Siddiqui when she was allegedly detained outside the governor's house in Afghanistan's Ghazni province in July.

Siddiqui was first taken to a U.S. military base from where she was flown to New York where she is facing charges of assault on U.S. personnel in Ghazni.

During Siddiqui's interrogation, she is alleged to have picked up a soldier's rifle, announced her "desire to kill Americans" and fired shots at U.S. soldiers and FBI agents. She was wounded by return fire.
