ISLAMABAD: The son of detained Pakistani lady doctor in U.S. Aafia Siddiqui was handed over to her family in Pakistan here Monday.
Mohammed Ahmed was among three children of Dr Aafia who were allegedly kidnapped along with their mother from Karachi some five years back and were later shifted to Afghanistan. The other two children of Dr Aafia are still missing.
Mohammed Ahmed, age undisclosed, was brought to Chaklala Airbase from Kabul on Monday where he was kept under surveillance of Foreign Ministry, which later handed him over to his aunt, Dr Fauzia and other family members of detained Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Earlier, Afghan government had handed over Ahmed to Pakistan Embassy in Kabul, which managed his travel arrangements to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, spokesman to Afghan Foreign Minister Sultan Ahmed Beham has declared that Ahmed was not a prisoner and was kept in state-run guest house.
