Bashar to lead Dhaka Warriors in ICL
DHAKA: It is now officially announced that the former Bangladesh captain Habib-ul-Bashar will lead Dhaka Warriors in the next edition of the Indian Cricket League.
The team would feature leading Bangladeshi cricketers who opted to sacrifice their international careers by going for the rebel league.
ICL is not recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and as a result the players will be banned from playing for and in Bangladesh.
Bashar's former deputy Shahriar Nafees, all-rounder Alok Kapali and wicketkeeper Diman Ghosh were present at an ICL news conference where the former captain confirmed the signing of Farhad Reza and Aftab Ahmed. Organisers said the Dhaka Warriors would feature in the Twenty20 league's second season starting on October 10th which will feature 34 matches at four venues.
The ICL features 50 international players including now retired Pakistan captain Inzamam ul Haq and West Indian great Brian Lara.
